Rock houses, Iceland

Lion Mountain Cam

Recently there has been a number of reports of Mountain Lion sightings in Marin County.  (See photo attached).  On concern that these animals might contaminate the Watershed, MMWD decided to contract a wild-life photographer to setup remote cameras along the hillsides above Cascade Resevoir.  These systems are video surveillance recorders that are triggered by infra-red sensors.  Anytime there is movement by a living creature, the camera system turns on and records.  Looks like the cameras got more than just images of Mountain Lions

Stay in the Boat by Chich

Stay In The Boat

'Tis the law of the jaw
such a bite with might
will fill you with fright
Oh, a piranha's delight!

If you see something stare
but a true evil glare
your chances are slim
yes, in fact, pretty grim

In the dank murky waters
the fangs crave a  treat
of tender sweet morsels
from your tasty seat!

So I'll leave you, dear friend
with a wise man's quote
"Oh, be careful, be sure
before leaving the boat!"

A Grand Discovery

An eyewitness account.

I was hiking up in the hills above Cascade Falls a few weeks ago when I heard a strange cracking sound.  At first I thought it was a branch falling off a tree.  I turned towards the falls, and out of the corner of my I eye, I saw a blur of movement.  Naturally, I was startled as up to that moment I thought I was alone.  But I wasn't.  Hidden in the bushes, just a few inches from my face was a creature.  It had what looked like a Racccon head but with the body and face of a human. It saw that I had spotted him, and quickly darted away.  I grabbed my camera and took this shot of the creature as it dashed out of my view.  It moved so very quickly and ran upright on it's hind legs like a human,  then went down on all four legs as it darted under a cluster of fern leaves.  In a flash it was gone.

I managed to take a photograph.

I believe this is the so called "Little Foot"

New Discovered Species. By Charles Darwin

It is important that I tell you this: On my travels I have discovered a small boy-like creature that I call "minisculus pedalus" or "little foot". He is a by who I belive is related to "sausqautch giganticus" or "big foot". I am still gathering notes.

The Raccoon Hat

There is a very special boy who has a very special raccoon hat. In fact I think a part of his brain is in that hat. This hat was handmade in Aspen. It looks like a raccoon and has plaid details in it. It is really grand. This boy's head is an animal. Every day he comes home with a toy sword and dirt on his paws. That hat makes him feel HAPPY.

The 397 Book Review: Wildwood by Colin Meloy and Carson Ellis

This is a great book about a girl named Prue Mckeel, who's little brother gets abducted by a murder of crows. These crows take her little brother to the Impassable Wilderness, an overgrown and inhospitable landscape of foreboding mystery. Prue must go in to this "I.W" and save her little brother but once Prue steps in she realizes this "I.W." is not as it seems...
